SFNL Round 12 preview

Imperials vs Irymple –  Brian Weightman Oval

Imperials will again carry match of the round honours into this weekend’s games, pitted against a fellow top three opponent in Irymple. Arguably the open spaces of Brian Weightman Oval will suit the Swallows as they try to peg back the Imps stronghold on top of the ladder claims. While Imps prevailed convincingly last time they met, this promises to be a much tighter encounter.

Their last encounter: Round 3 Irymple 6.7:43 v Imperials 12.11:83. Imperials won by 40 points

Red Cliffs vs Robinvale Euston –  Quandong Park

At home Red Cliffs will be looking to catch a RobinvaleEuston off their game after their bye. After a competitive showing against a strong and in-form Mildura team last week, the Tigers will have some confidence that they are building a game style that can test most teams in the competition. The Eagles will go into the game refreshed and will be looking to consolidate their position in the top five, while also pushing to challenge for a top 3 finish.

Their last encounter: Round 3 – Robinvale Euston 11.8:74 vs Red Cliffs 10.7:67. Robinvale Euston won by 7 points

Ouyen United vs Mildura –  Blackburn Park, Ouyen

The Worksafe Country Club Series travels to Ouyen to celebrate country footy when Ouyen United take on Mildura at Blackburn Park. Fresh off their first win of the season, Ouyen will go into this clash with some renewed confidence. Mildura too will be high on confidence having won 4 of their last 5 matches and only falling narrowly to league leaders Imperials in that one loss. Mildura too has ambitions on finishing top three and will not wish to drop this game.

Merbein vs Wentworth District –  Kenny Park

Both Merbein and Wentworth will be smarting from recent losses and looking to atone this week in this Kenny Park clash. Merbein are desperate to keep in touch with the top five and will be keen to give a good showing at home and hope to be able to knock off one of the top sides in the run home. Wentworth are aware they need to continue to rack up wins if they want to secure a top three finish in a tight season.
